Welcome Address

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 7th Baltic Atherosclerosis Society Congress, which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia on April 6-7, 2018.

The Baltic Society of Atherosclerosis was founded during the 1st Baltic Lipid Conference on the 15th of April, 1998 in Tallinn. The current meeting will continue the tradition to hold the Baltic Atherosclerosis Congresses in Tallinn, Riga or Vilnius. The 7th BAS Congress will bring together cardiologists, endocrinologists, internists, clinical researchers and others interested in the field of atherosclerosis.

The programme of the Congress should help practitioners to find answers to the questions they are facing in their daily work. Our activities are focused on clinically oriented primary and secondary prevention. The programme will tackle all the major risk factors and mechanisms of atherosclerosis as usually, with special emphasis on lipid management in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, familial dyslipidemias such as familial hypercholesterolemia and cardiovascular risk in diabetes.

Despite the recent advances in the cardiovascular prevention and atherosclerosis research, the burden of the cardiovascular morbidity and mortality remains very high in all the three Baltic countries. This will give the opportunity to bring together state-of-art research in the field of atherosclerosis and create strong forum for exchanging ideas and seeking solutions for the future.

Organisers of the congress are determined to promote a stimulating atmosphere of the meeting. We also hope that you will find time to enjoy festivities of 100th birthday of the Republic of Estonia, medieval city of Tallinn and relaxing countryside.
