Synopsis: Lungs are unfriendly environment for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Since the clinical introduction of MRI, the chest has been one of its most challenging applications. Since then, however, technical advances in sequencing, scanners, coils and postprocessing tools have been reported by many clinical researchers. As a result, state-of-the-art thoracic MRI is now available substituted for traditional imaging techniques and plays a complementary role in the management of patients with various chest diseases. In 2020 appeared Fleischner Society Position Paper. The purpose of this Fleischner Society document is to familiarize radiologists and other interested clinicians with recent advances in pulmonary MRI and to provide a consensus expert opinion about clinical indications for this modality.
