The role of MRI in neuroradiology emergencies

Biography: Jurate Dementaviciene graduated from Vilnius university in 1983. 1983-1985 fellowship in radiology, Vilnius university Advanced training faculty for doctors. 2003 PhD scientific theses “CT angiography (CTA) of the intracranial arteries in the assessment of cerebrovascular disease”. Assoc. Prof. at Vilnius university. From 2005 lecturer for students, resident supervisor and lecturer for advanced training courses for doctors. Member of Lithuanian radiologists‘ association, Europeahort CVn society of Radiology, European society of Neuroradiology, International society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Radiology Society of North America. Presenter at national and international scientific meetings.

Synopsis: The use of MRI has dramatically increased over the last decade due to its increasing importance in the emergency department . Though it’s necessary to pay attention to availability, cost, experience of radiology staff and patients’ condition. This presentation will overview conditions and situations for neuro emergencies requesting urgent MRI examination and alternatives for imaging. We will share our experience in managing such situations and present some examples.
